ORELLO – Episode 1 : creating the pattern

New month, new project!

I’m taking you with me on an upcycling project. I bought a white shirt second-hand, three doors down from here, for just a few euros. After some research into ideas, styles, shapes and colors, I’m off to personalize the shirt!

I get out the watercolors and brushes, and start creating abstract shapes. My color palette is warm and vibrant: yellow ochre, red, pink, green and a few touches of blue to soften things up.

After scanning, I detach each element and place them independently of each other. To create the pattern, I use Illustrator. In the video, you can see a preview of the pattern as I move a flower.
I want the pattern to be airy, yet balanced in terms of the distribution of colors and elements.

See you next time for the print! It’s a rather special print, since it’s a sublimation technique.
